Beech - Fagus Sylvatica

Beech is also known as Fagus Sylvatica. This particular Beech was one I found in Glossop Town Centre. As it is obvious in the photographs, the weather was significantly frosty and all of the leaves have fallen from their branches. The pictures I have shown make it easy to see the branch structure and the intriguing texture of the trunk. The Beech is a large deciduous tree, with a broad rounded crown. The leaves are usually up to 10cm in length, oval and pointed.
