Metasequioa glyptostroboides; Dawn Redwood

I discovered this Redwood in Budapest, Hungry, (early November) in an area of well managed planting.
Sat just outside an incredible view of historic architectural, surrounded by a peaceful stream of water - it was important for the surrounding planting to mimic these qualities. The redwood sits beautifully at the edge of the lake, while the tree's majestic qualities suit well to those similar qualities of the castle.

The purpose of the tree choice would appear to bee entirely ornamental, and I would say it has succeeded in doing so. Around this species is minimal ground cover and generally, the planting scheme for this site is quite minimal and sparse.

Furthermore, the orange/green foliage brings warmth to the surrounding stone structural elements.
