Rosa canina; Dog Rose

I found this Rosa canina in Longford Park, around mid-October.
The Dog Rose was found growing amongst a variety of shrubs, trees and ruderal plants. Its form would lead us to believe it is un-maintained, neglected. While its location (central to the green space and not marking any path) would lead us to believe it was self-seeded, as this particular dog rose does not appear to be fulfilling any particular purpose or function.

Visually, the yellow speckled leaves and red berries are quite attractive. They bring both colour and intrigue when amongst evergreens. Whilst the thorns help ensure the plants survival, as it uses them to ensure its ability to climb and prosper in environments like these.

The soils were moist and well drained.
